  • Initially, documents undergo verification at the regional level by local authorities, then proceed to state-level attestation. 

2. State Government Level Attestation:

  • Each Indian state has specific departments like State Home Department (SHD), General Administration Department (GAD), Human Resource Department (HRD), and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Delhi for this purpose. For commercial documents, the Chamber of Commerce handle this verification.

3. MEA Attestation:

  • After state-level attestation, the document is further authenticated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in Delhi.

4. Embassy Attestation:

  •  Finally, the document qualifies to be submitted to the Bahrain Embassy for attestation.


2. MEA Apostille for Bahrain:  

 It's important to note that Bahrain is part of the Hague Convention, which means that apostille is accepted for documents destined for use in Bahrain. 


The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in Delhi oversees the apostille service, with a processing time of 2-4 working days. Initially, documents undergo verification at the regional level by local authorities, then proceed to state-level attestation.
